In “Balancing the Mind-Flower”, three flowers, a weathered log, and human handprints tell of the many states of mind—from those still bound by desire to those who have crossed into freedom.

From the devastating floods in Bangkok in 2011, the impact was felt not only in the physical dimension but also within the human mind. The artist transformed this experience into his 2013 solo exhibition, “Balancing the Mind”.

This artwork reflects that exploration. In the tension between bold orange and muted brown, a vertical piece of wood divides the canvas like a fragile yet powerful threshold. The three white blossoms at different levels, recalling the Buddhist metaphor of the human mind—some already blossoming in light, some waiting at the surface, and some still immersed in darkness.

The fallen log speaks of beings still drenched in desire, and others who have crossed the shore—dried, freed, and liberated.

Across the orange and grey fields, countless handprints echo the marks of humanity imprinted upon every state of mind.

This is abstraction woven with allegory, urging us to contemplate the delicate balance between attachment and release, illusion and clarity.
