Political critical painting by Vasan Sitthiket derived as a protest against ‘injustice’. His caricature paintings contain visual language to seductive, vigorous and savage to express anger towards the never ending issues of corruption, abuse of power and Thai nationalism. He adopted irony and metaphor from the Thai verbal language by comparing a bad person with specific animals such as buffalo, dog and lizard which appear here as high level of the Thai government officers with buffalo, dog, and lizard heads.
Vasan Sitthiket is among Thai’s and South East Asian most visible social artist and activist since the 90’s in all media including painting, sculpture, moving image, poetry and protest.
